CAMPUS EQUITY WEEK SWEEPS NORTH AMERICA!
* Growing support for better working conditions for lecturers
* Events highlighted priority on instruction during budget crisis
Last week CFA lecturers from every CSU campus joined contingent
faculty
throughout Canada, Mexico and the United States to protect instruction
and save
classes during Campus Equity Week. CFA coordinated activities to
publicize the
increased exploitation of contingent faculty and the threats this
creates for
academic freedom, quality education and institutional stability.
These activities, including three regional public hearings, were
a big success
across the state, despite events having to be rescheduled on three
Southern
California campuses due to the wildfires.
Lecturers also collected more than 10,000 signatures on petitions
to "Save Our
Classes and Protect Instruction," which will be delivered to
policymakers.
