Statement
of Solidarity
to the Organizing Committee of
International Campus Equity Week
The
members of the University Teachers Union and the Union of University
Part-Time Lecturers in recognition of Campus Equity Week, express
our sincere wishes of solidarity to all educational workers involved
in their current organizing efforts for adjunct university teachers.
Many of our own members work as adjunct teachers at Japanese universities
and understand well the difficulties involved in obtaining equal status
in compensation and benefits with full-time, tenured employees.
It is with this understanding that we resolve to stand by our fellow
educational workers and wish for them a swift and equitable resolution
of their struggle so that they may continue to do the work for which
they are employed.
