			Thanks to Rob Wagner,
			Government
			Relations Director of
AFT-Oregon, for the work on the
			proclamation.
Our
			state AFL-CIO

convention today endorsed a resolution directing the AFL-CIO to
			seek a modification in the
			Oregon Public
Employees Collective Bargaining Act making staffing Levels a
mandatory subject of bargaining (it currently is a permissive
subject). In the context of the committee debate on the issue,
several higher ed representatives referenced CEW.
I've scheduled time on the agenda of our college Board of
Directors at their October monthly meeting (this Thursday, Oct. 20)
to discuss Equity Week issues and the challenges created by our
declining FT/PT ratio. We'll be hearing testimony from a number of
			part-timers, full-timers, and students.
On Friday, Oct. 21, [as the faculty representative] I'll be
discussing CEW with the Oregon State Board of Education at their
			monthly CC meeting. Adapted from
