List of Rabble-A Skits and Songs

1. "Misnomer"—Campus officials attempt to deal with part-timers searching for a permanent name. (Cast: 2 characters)

2.
"Techno Mary"—Four short interlude scenes in which Techno Mary attempts to gather components for a computer to use on campus. These scenes work well between other skits. (Cast: 1 character)

. "The Auction"—An auction takes place in which teaching jobs are auctioned off at the last minute. (Cast: 3 main characters; crowd)

4.
"A Monologue"—A bewildered and somewhat paranoid part-timer tries to understand her place in the college work environment. (1 character)

5.
"Tiny Office"—The filling up, with teachers and students, of a shared faculty office to capacity. (Cast: 2 main characters; crowd, several with one line, to fill up space)

6.
"The Application Process"—A job fair in which teaching jobs go to applicants with the best bottom line. Similar to "The Auction." (Cast: 3 main characters; an off-stage voice; a crowd)

7.
"I’ve Taught Everywhere"—A parody of a country song. (This song requires two cast members: a singer and a musician on guitar (or piano)

"Stable Genes," A commercial sells bottled genes for part-timers who might be suffering from a deficiency based on temporary genes. (Cast:1 character and an off-stage voice or recording)

"Full Office"—A professor attempts to navigate a distressed student through a campus shared office filled to capacity. (Cast: 2 main characters; 6 characters with few lines; crowd to fill office)

10.
"Common Ground"—Three short interludes, as in two above, in which a full-timer and part-timer take walks in hopes of coming to terms with each other. (Cast: 2 characters)

"The President Makes a Commercial"—The president of a college attempts to make a commercial only to be disrupted by rowdy part-timers trying to get in the picture to tell their story. (Cast: 5 cast members; others helpful as sign holders)

12.
"The News"—A newscaster interview a president of a college about a picket line of part-timers; the newscaster interviews a part-timer about finally acquiring a permanent name. (Cast: 3 main characters)

13.
"Full-time Psychic"—a commercial for a psychic to help freeway flyers keep track of their many classes. (An off-stage voice or recording)

14.
"Get Compensated"—A quiz show in which faculty and administrators battle over funding for salary increases allocated by the Governor. (Cast: 5 characters)

15.
"The Trainee"—The newest member on the negotiation team for the administration learn tips on how to negotiate with faculty.

16.
"Twelve Days of Bargaining"—A parody on the Traditional Christmas Song "Twelve Days of Christmas" in which faculty outline the most recent and only offers the administration has presented. (Cast: 2-4 dancers to perform the routine; a singer and musician; at least 6 sign holders; 2 administrators (can double as sign holders). You can skip the skit and perform the song and routine)

17.
"The Awards"—An awards ceremony in which awards are granted to the best part-time faculty member, the best full-time faculty member, the best president of a college and the best chancellor. (Cast: 6 characters: a crowd)

18.
"The Contract"—A faculty members attempts but fails to physically grab a contract. (Cast: 2 characters)


Most of these skits are no more than 3 pages in length. Choose the one(s) that are of interest and we’ll download them ASAP. Some of them require several cast members. In one Oregon production, students, faculty, and the theater department worked alongside one another. But you can creatively improvise with some of these to keep the cast size down.
