CEW PLANS

Madison Technical College - Madison Wisconsin

I received great news today. We were able to schedule Michael Moore (of 'Roger and Me' and TV Nation fame) to come to Madison, WI to speak on October 30th. He will be making a speech about CEW and part time worker issues. I am sure he will serve as a great draw to our event.

Some of the other events we are planning are:

1. A rally at the State Capitol at 5pm. We have booked a musical group that is extremely popular and is headed up by one of our college instructors. At the rally State Senator Gary George will be presenting a bill for pay equity for part time instructors in the Technical College System

2. Local advertising
a. A proposal for television ads by Fox 47 the week prior to CEW was reviewed and accepted. One part of it is to show the Degrees of Shame documentary on three different times during the week.
b. We will look into radio ads
c. We will look into newspaper ads

3. Legislative panel discussion with WTCS administrators at MATC at 12:30 with students and faculty invited

4. Leafleting at the Dane County Farmer's Market the three Saturdays before CEW.

5. Posters and buttons. The AFT media people are designing posters and buttons that we will get out to any willing to put them up.

6. Music during lunch. We are contacting a local music group about providing music at the Downtown and Truax cafeterias during lunch and we will give out flyers on CEW
7. Skits. Based on the California ones, we will be performing them at the rally and at Michael Moore's speech.

I hope these ideas will help others who are thinking of what to do.
