CEW PLANS

University of Louisiana - Lafayette, Louisiana

We're planning a noon teach-in with speakers, musicians, a little guerrilla theater, and a some kind of dialogue with someone high up in the administration--we have a lot of work yet to do on the program. We'll have street theater and showings of DEGREES OF SHAME in the days before the teach-in to build interest.

We're also putting together a website with suggested assignments and readings for faculty who want to address adjunct issues in their classes (most notably a research paper assignment having students interview adjunct faculty and others about the issues).

Finally, we're composing a letter, probably to the administration and/or our governing boards, requesting actions to improve working conditions. We will be seeking signatures from campus and community leaders (faculty senate, the local AAUP chapter, the local school board, chamber of commerce, union leaders, etc.), and we hope to present the letter at the teach-in.
