CEW PLANS Santa Monica Community College - Santa Monica, California Plans for CEW activities at Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California are developing well. They include a major panel discussion entitled "Solutions to the Problems of Part Time Faculty" scheduled for Thursday, November 1. The panelists will include Lantz Simpson, President of the Santa Monica College Faculty Association, Piedad Robertson, President of Santa Monica College, Assemblymember Jackie Goldberg (D-Los Angeles), and Cindy Oliver, of the College Institute Educators Association in British Columbia, Canada. (Faculty in public and private British Columbia Colleges are hired under a common core agreement established in province-wide negotiations that include the government. Local districts and colleges negotiate salary and other issues beyond the core hiring, benefits, and job security issues resolved in the "Common Agreement.") We
are also planning on tabling for the week. In addition, we will
be distributing CEW materials to all faculty members. |
